FAQ

My player is advanced and their friend is a beginner can they both benefit from camp?

While the stations are consistent for all the players in a particular age group, the way we run the drills varies according to the ability level of each player. We stress to our coaches the importance of coaching each player at her own level. Older and more experienced players work on more advanced concepts as the weeks progress. The level of instruction changes throughout the day and throughout the program.

My player is a 3rd grader and I don’t want him grouped with 1st graders. How does that work?

There is a small age range within each session, but players are broken into small groups with six to seven players. There may be 1st graders and 3rd graders in the facility at the same time, but we create small groups based on the players grade. The third graders are grouped with other third graders, and the first graders with first graders.

 What should my camper wear?

Baseball pants work, but they’ll be most comfortable in athletic shorts. We provide the camp T-shirt.

What baseball equipment should we bring?

All baseball equipment they have including a glove, baseball hat, bat and helmet.  We will provide extra helmets and bats if needed.  All other equipment needed will be provided.

What if the weather is bad or my child is sick on day of camp?

In the case of inclement weather or sick child we will reschedule the day for the camp.  Communication will take place via email.  If you are unable to attend a make-up date or another available camp date we will work with you to refund your money.

 Who does the coaching?

Gustavus Baseball Coaches and Gustavus baseball players.

 What is your coach-to-player ratio?

Our coach to player ratio is usually around 5-1 depending on late sign ups this could skew the ratio higher.

I want to sign up for camp but am unable to make one day that week?

No problem, we will invite you for day in a different week or we can refund you for that day you are unable to attend.  Just communicate with us ahead of time.

Are cleats allowed on the turf field?

Yes we allow molded and metal cleats.

What if my kid is new to baseball? Will he/she enjoy the camp?

Absolutely! Gustavus Baseball Camps are all about positive energy and being a good teammate. When ballplayers are good teammates they encourage each other and pick each other up, which makes new ballplayers much more comfortable. On top of that, our hand-picked coaching staff is trained to train each kid at their ability level – not their age level – leaving many kids feeling encouraged and confidence in their own improvement throughout the camp
